There is something extra special about spring senior sessions in Atlanta—the soft blooms, golden light, and that feeling of excitement right before a new chapter begins. Alexis’ session was the perfect combination of all three.
A senior at North Druid Hills High School, Alexis is getting ready to head to University of Virginia this fall—following in her mom’s footsteps, which made this session even more meaningful.
🎓 A Vision Centered Around UVA Pride
From the very beginning, Alexis knew she wanted her future school to be part of her senior photos. With her love for navy and orange (UVA’s iconic colors), we intentionally styled the session to reflect her next chapter.
She brought along University of Virginia signs and thoughtfully chose outfits that incorporated her school spirit—whether subtle or bold. This is something I always encourage for senior sessions: make it personal and meaningful to YOU.
📍 Two Perfect Midtown Atlanta Locations
To bring her vision to life, we selected two complementary locations in Midtown:
- A quiet, nature-filled park with wooded areas, a pond, and blooming spring flowers
- Piedmont Park for its iconic skyline views
This combination gave us both soft, nature-inspired portraits and classic Atlanta cityscape images—a perfect balance.
✨ Starting Soft & Elegant: Cap, Gown & Spring Blooms
We met Alexis and her mom about two hours before sunset to get that dreamy golden light.
She began in her graduation cap and gown paired with a white short dress, which gave us a mix of traditional and modern senior portraits.
In this first location, we captured:
- Sweet, timeless portraits in the woods
- Playful moments on a swing (some of my favorites!)
- Light and airy images by the pond
- Stunning shots surrounded by soft pink spring blooms
Once she removed the gown, the white dress stood out beautifully against the natural greenery and florals—fresh, simple, and so elegant.
🌆 City Vibes, Outfit Changes & a Special Family Moment
We then headed to Piedmont Park to capture a completely different look and energy, with the Atlanta skyline as her backdrop.
Alexis changed into three outfits that each told a different story:
1. Casual & Classic
A jeans + off-white top look near the rotunda—clean, effortless, and timeless.
2. Full UVA Spirit
A denim skirt paired with her UVA t-shirt and banner, photographed by the lake with the skyline behind her. This was such a fun way to celebrate where she’s headed next!
3. Bold & Vibrant
A flowy orange summer dress that popped beautifully against the greenery and cityscape—perfectly tying in her future school colors.
Midway through the session, Alexis’ sister—who is also her personal stylist 🙂 —joined us, and it added such a special layer to the experience. Not only did she help bring Alexis’ outfits and vision together so seamlessly, but we also took time at the end of the session to capture sibling photos and portraits of the three of them together.
These moments always end up being some of the most meaningful—documenting not just a milestone, but the people who have been part of the journey.
💛 A Senior Full of Joy & Confidence
What made Alexis’ session truly special was her energy. She was full of life, open to every idea, and excited to try new poses and locations. Those are always the sessions where magic happens.
As a photographer, I love when seniors trust the process—it allows us to be creative, explore, and create something truly unique.
