Some sessions feel extra special, and Gabriela’s Georgia Tech graduation portraits were one of them.

Last year, I photographed her brother Jason’s Georgia Tech undergraduate graduation session (you can see Jason’s session HERE), and this spring, I had the joy of photographing Gabriela as she celebrated earning her degree from Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business.

Even more special? Gabriela and Jason are from Chicago, and this time the entire family traveled to be there, which gave us the opportunity to include family photos throughout the session — something that made this graduation session feel even more meaningful.

Two Georgia Tech Graduation Sessions, Two Completely Different Stories

While Gabriela and Jason’s sessions shared a few classic Georgia Tech must-haves — including the iconic GT Tower and the unmistakable Georgia Tech sign — the sessions were completely different in feel, personality, and story.

And that is exactly what I love about graduation photography.

Even when we visit some of the same campus landmarks, no two sessions are ever the same because every graduate brings their own energy, accomplishments, and story to celebrate.

Gabriela’s story is especially inspiring.

She completed her business degree while working full-time, attending Georgia Tech in the evenings while balancing a demanding career. That kind of dedication deserves to be documented and celebrated.

A Crowded Campus? No Problem.

When I arrived at our meeting spot, there was one small surprise…

A massive fraternity pre-formal was happening.

And when I say massive, I mean hundreds of people taking photos.

For many people, that might have felt like a disaster for a portrait session.

But after photographing many Georgia Tech graduation sessions over the years, I know the campus well — and I know how to work around crowds using angles, composition, light, and thoughtful editing.

We adjusted, moved strategically, and created beautiful images that feel timeless and polished, without the chaos you’d never know was happening just outside the frame.

That’s part of the experience I bring to every graduation session.

Classic Georgia Tech Graduation Photos — Plus Personal Favorites

We made sure to capture the iconic Georgia Tech locations every graduate wants:

• The Georgia Tech Tower
• The Georgia Tech sign
• Beautiful campus walkways and architecture
• Cap and gown portraits around campus
• Family photos celebrating this milestone together

Then we finished at Scheller College of Business in Midtown, where Gabriela spent so much of her academic journey.

Ending the session there felt especially meaningful.

Natural Posing, Movement, and So Many Genuine Smiles

Gabriela was open to everything — and that made the session so much fun.

We mixed classic portraits with movement and variety, including:

• Walking portraits
• Sitting poses
• Twirling photos
• Leaning poses
• Laughing candids
• Traditional cap-and-gown portraits
• Family portraits

And through all of it, she had the most incredible smile.

The result was a gallery that felt joyful, elegant, personal, and full of life.

Earning your degree while working full-time is no small feat, and it was an honor to help celebrate and document this milestone for you and your family before you headed back to Chicago.
