A Joyful Family Photo Session in Atlanta with Margaux’s Crew

Photographing Margaux and her family was such a delight! They recently moved to Atlanta from Denver, and this family photo session was a beautiful way to celebrate their fresh start.

A Cozy Saturday Morning Start

We met early on a Saturday morning at their new home. The forecast showed afternoon rain, so we wanted to make the most of the soft, overcast light. (Pro tip: cloudy skies are often perfect for photos!)

Margaux and her husband were all smiles, and their two young boys—ages 5 and 2.5—were full of playful energy. Their 9-year-old dog added the perfect dose of calm to balance out the excitement.

Since the family had just relocated, they wanted to capture a few special portraits with their new house in the background. It was such a meaningful way to mark this new chapter. I love when families include these kinds of personal details in their sessions—it makes the photos even more special.

Candid + Posed = The Perfect Mix

In the pre-session questionnaire (something I send to all my clients!), Margaux mentioned she wanted a mix of posed and lifestyle shots. That’s my sweet spot! We started with some classic portraits, then let the fun unfold.

The boys ran, giggled, played, and explored their quiet cul-de-sac. We paused for hugs, snuggles, and a few moments of stillness, but mostly we moved and laughed and soaked up every moment.

A Session Full of Love and Laughter

Watching Margaux and her husband interact with their boys was heartwarming. They were present, patient, and so connected as a family. That energy shines through in every image.

The session felt easy and full of joy—exactly the kind of experience I strive to create for every family I photograph.
